Paediatric First Aid
Aquafield Training runs level 3 Paediatric First Aid courses approved by the local authority, Leicestershire County Council in line with Early Years, Ofsted, Pre-school Learning Alliance and National Childminders Association.
This course is designed for workers caring for children in the absence of their parents. The training leads to a certificate valid for 3 years.
The course can be
delivered as required, on-site or at locations throughout the
Course inclusive of Paediatric First Aid manual, back-up notes and email line.
The level 3 two day course covers the following involving babies and children:
- Planning for first aid emergencies
- Dealing with emergencies
- First Aid kits
- Record keeping
- Resuscitation
Recognising and dealing with:
- Hypovolaemic, anaphylactic and electric shock
- Bleeding, burns and scalds
- Choking
- Broken bones
- Head, neck and back injuries
- Poisoning
- Foreign bodies in eyes, ears and noses
- Eye injuries
- Bites and stings
- Extremes of heat and cold
- Febrile convulsions
- Epilepsy, asthma, sickle cell anaemia, diabetes
- Meningitis and other serious sudden illnesses
The training takes account of guidance on first aid for schools issued by the Department for Education and Skills and guidance on standard First Aid at Work training requirements issued by the Health & Safety Executive
